4k tranny?

Some vague memory I have, that sometime mid '84 year 4Ks and then on were
alright, while the earlier ones were suceptible to SMS.  I would confirm it
with German Transaxle (Bend, OR.) before planning on depending on my word...

I will check in with them on Monday and see if I remember right or not...

Maybe I misunderstand this. Is this comment related to SMS?
There hasn't been an 020 that I've taken apart where the ring gear
isn't held on with rivets. In my mind that makes it susceptable to
SMS.
But, maybe you know something I don't.
