That extra 20 hp is obtainable, but it could be at the expense of 
drivability. You'll need bigger cams, maybe even larger valves. I 
recently saw a 1.8l 16V GTi in a UK mag. think it was pushing over 
190hp. I doubt it had much down low. Cold morning? Lumpa wump.. wump..
