Yes Dan I have,
My car has done that on numerous occasions, normally getting worse until
it finally wouldn't run at all, then I could finally trace down the
problem, as long as it is running you can't find the problem. It never
would quit when I wanted it too.
But anyway my was caused by a few different problems at different times.
First it was a broken (shorted) wire going to the distributor(pickup).
Then it was a bad coil wire, i think it was broken.
Then it was a bad ignition pickup, since I used a used pickup for the
first probelm.
Then it was a bad ignition module that would intermitently quit working
once it warmed up.
But it could be a lot of things, if your tach stops then I would say that
it is definetly a ignition problem, I would probably try a new cap and
rotor, since thay are fairly cheap and easy to replace, then if that
doesn't help I would try a new module.
Hope this helps some, got any more questions, let me know.
