Best way to "flush out" a dirty tranny? HELP!

I bought an FF tranny for cheap recently and I'd like to swap it in for
all the highway driving I'll be doing in the next month. The problem is
that it appears to have been stored outside, without anything covering
the speedo hole. Since there was a bunch of leaves and crap all over
it, I'm assuming some stuff got inside.

How do I flush out the tranny without taking it apart? I have yet to
crack a tranny completely open (pretty much the ONLY thing I haven't
done on a Scirocco) so I'm not sure how much time/effort is required to
access the guts to directly clean it.

I don't have a bunch of time to completely disassemble it either, so I'm
looking for a procedure that won't require me to tear it down. I'm
replacing all the seals, and removing the 5th gear cover to change the
throwout bearing. Would removing all the seals, covers, and drain plugs
(side and bottom) and then blasting through the various holes with a
powerwasher, followed by a thorough overfilling and draining (twice?)
with cheapo gear oil to "rinse" out all the water be a good idea? (I'd
turn it upside down and every-which-way to access all the nooks and
crannies when rinsing it with oil...)

Would a very small amount of water left over be ok (ie: does the oil in
the transmission get hot enough to boil off any water remaining - even
if in just a few "local" high friction areas?)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Mark.
