Missing the Point (was: Any drawback to having a hydro head on aJH?)

Somehow this thread got distorted and I still really haven't gotten the
answer I was after. So, I'll rephrase:

What is the potential harm of running a hydraulic head on a JH block that
should, by all rights, have the smaller (30mm) oil pump?

This question was raised because the head that is currently on the '83
California Edition is stamped hydro (I have yet to confirm, but I didn't
think they were interchangable with solid heads), yet it should be solid. I
have no idea if the pump that's currently in the block had been upgraded to
properly feed the hydro head.

Thanks, Jeff
