Insane speed in german cars... slightly OT, had to share...

Tachometers tend to be even less accurate than speedometers, since there 
are no laws governing their accuracy.

Take a look at the road tests of the 16V and one of the editors complaining 
that the rev limiter kicked in just before 6800rpm.  On my tach, the rev 
limiter kicks in at 7800.  That's 1000rpm difference between the two (or a 
staggering 14% error between the two -- or 20mph at 140mph!!!!)  In fact, 
both cars hit the limiter at 7200rpm...

Actually, a Rabbit doing 140mph does scare me -- it was never designed to 
go anywhere near those speeds, and the amount of lift created would make it 
downright dangerous.

The top speed claims on this list are about as accurate as the penis size 
claims in AOL chat rooms.  140mph Rabbits, 14" Man Rods...
