[luck-bad-->worse]: arrested saturday looong (but interesting)

whoa, deja-vu. I ran into almost this exact problem with my g/f now wife 4
years ago. She moved here (Georgia) from Las Vegas and along the way,
accidently left her license at a motel she stayed at for the night on her
way out here. So she made due by using her passport for just about anything
a license would be needed for. So when she had finally been here long
enough, we tried to get her a Ga license. Waited 3 F'ing hours in line at
the local state patrol office (thats where you get them, no true DMV in this
state) finally get to the lady, explain why she doesn't have her Nv license
but provides everything we need to prove she says she is. The lady checks a
few things and then comes back with the fact that her Nv license was
suspended but no reason given and that we would have to contact the Nv DMV
to find out what was up. So glad we wasted 3 hours for that great answer.

Anyway, to make a really bad story short, they had suspended her license
becase it had expired 1 week prior to this mess. This took no less then 15
long distance calls to the las vegas DMV. It cost us somewhere around $50
for a "clearence letter" from the Nv DMV before Ga would grant her a
license. So basicly what you need to do is unfrotunatly go though the
hassle of doing whatever to get this particular letter from your previous
state before Ga will give you a license. Do check into this yourself
however, just in case they were just assholes to us.

You will find that there are alot of nice cops in Ga, but there are
definitly a good bunch of pure fukwits among them. Especially in your neck
of the woods in dekalb.
