auto scirocco?

My '81 was an auto. it did a good job of picking a gear for me, but lost out
big time in top speed. the gearing was done to make it accelerate as good as
a standard, but due to that the final drive was so low that the top speed
was only about 85Mph, where it would be red lining.

I liked it though, good car, good tranny. don't think I'd go out of my way
to buy one though, but if I was offered one, I'd probably take it. I looked
at our local buy and sell today, and I saw for sale, 6 sciroccos! 79, 80-83,
85, 86. the most expensive one was $2400 for the '86(with an auto) all the
others were going for $1000.

Think I gotta get me an '81s.........
and a '82 rally car....
and a '83 parts car....
and a '79 show car....
