You're absolutely right Larry. The only reason I installed one in my car
is because when I load up the car with race tires, its a really nice way
to keep the tires from rolling into the back of the rear seat. Ive
noticed nothing different with it on or off and my suspicions were
exactly as you describe. 

So for me its nothing more than a fancy tire rack. Looks kewl and all the
racers have em. (Well,I do anyways.)
