Don't wait 500 miles, go out and seat your pads properly.  Get the
car up to about 40 mph and, using a firm pedal, slow to car to about
5 mph and repeat 10 times.  This will heat the pads sufficiently to
cure the adhesives and other stuff in the pad material AND it will
help to burnish (heat treat) the rotors.  

I'm not familiar with ABS systems so I can't tell you if it's OK to
pull the reservoir.  However, if you pull the reservoir (after you've
emptied it with a turkey baster), you should be able to clean and
refill it without emptying the master cylinder itself.
