Along with this idea, the only other things that could cause the main shaft
to turn under the conditions you are mentioning is a bent/cracked clutch
lever arm or the wrong push rod.  There are different lengths but for you to
replace a wrong one with a wrong one would be a little unbelieveable.  But
not machining the flywheel makes sense except for the fact that you said it
worked for a while then stopped working.  It seems that it would get better
not worse.  HTH!!
