Re: Still missing

Check the fuel filter, see if gas coming out of it is clean.

If not, replace it, and find out where the dirt is coming from.

Last week, I had the worst case of loss of power, stumbling, as if
running on 3 cylinders (never the same ones to boot, or so I felt),
dropping to 0 rpm when stopping, acceleration as if in a bad dream, you
know when the gremlins are catching up on you fast and all you can do is
twiddle your toes.

I had siggestiona about the O2 sensor, teh distributor cap, the spark
plugs, etc etc. My mechanic remarked it all started after a heavy
downpour, through which I drove. He said if there is water in the gas
tank and the fuel filter is clogged, the same effect can happen.

He pulled the fuel filter out. Sure enough, it was full of dirty brown
stuff. An inspection showed rust on the fuel filler tube. Maybe there is
a pinhole and water from the spinning rear right tire pushed through it
...

Anyways, the filter was replaced and the car is purring again like a
kitten. I pulled a spare filler pipe from my parts car, and the mechanic
will prepare and install it.
