always, always, ALWAYS patch a tire. I work at a garage, and have repaired 
approx. 500 tires in a year. as long as the hole isnt bordering on the 
sidewall, patch it. it's cheap, and should last a very long time with no 
speed limits other than that of the original manufacturer specs. hth
