Arsonist strikes '81 FSP car

Last night while Doug Teulie was sleeping, someone poured combustible fluid
on roof of the MK1 autox car and lit it on fire. The car had a cover on and
was parked on the street. The fluid ran down the seams of the hatch so the
roof and hatch got burned. The hatch glass fell into the car which allowed
the fire to burn the headliner and the tops of the seats. The inside is a
real mess from the buring plastic dripping on everything below. The tail
lights melted as did the bumper cover. The Zender rear spoiler is gone.

Luckily, the suspension did not get touched. Nor did the engine or
transmission. Doug and Mike put in coilovers two weeks ago. Last week Doug
installed Corbeau race seats. Those seats are now history.

I haven't seen the car yet. I'm going by after work. We will probably get
another hatch, replace the gas tank and all its rubber pieces, replace the
interior and paint the car. It will take some time, but it might be a
little less time than transferring all the goodies into another car.

What a bummer! We won't be at Hollywood Park this Sunday for the event (at
least not in this car).
