Ahh -- now I get it! :) So indeed it is strange that the KR uses less gas.

Does the KR have the same Compression ratio as the PL?

Wenn du willst. Heute ist doch ein Feiertag in Deutschland und ich habe
heute deshalb keine Emails auf Deutsch vom Koelner Buero bekommen -- so I'm
having withdrawal. :)

Exactly -- See, I thought the KR was in the Cabrio, and I figured that the
0,2l difference was due to the weight and aerodynamics. But of course I
had that backwards.

Do you have an AMS "Alle Autos aus der Welt" (oder aehnliches) catalog
from, say, 1987, that you could use to compare the manufacturer's
consumption values for both engines?

Leck mich. :)

Hehe. :) Das fand'ich immer komisch von Mercedes Dieselmotoren. Absolut
gelier Verbrauch beim Normalfahren. Tret aber hart aufs gas und die
saugen's runter wie einen 5-liter V8! Ferund von hatte einen alten
300TD-Turbo (1985). Normal saugte der Kombi 9 liter oder so... But then I
got in and beat the shit out of it and if I remember correctly used 22l --
und nicht auf der Autobahn -- nur in der Innenstadt.

Vergaser = god gas mileage?
I think that goes against everything I've been taught about carburetors! :)

Ja und deshalb habe ich nach dem Verdichtungsgrad des KR gefragt.
