Theres a few things you didnt mention. 

1) How did you prep the oil pan gasket surface??
2) How did you prep the engine's pan gasket surface??
3) What did you torque the oil pan bolts to??

All 3 of these will have a detrimental or successful result, depending on
what you did or did not do.
