SV: Block heaters?

All heaters for VW except one is the block style, you replace one freeze plug with a heater, one style you slam in like a freeze plug and one style that has a "securing" T so it can't come loose.
I have once seen a water heater connected to one of the radiotor rubbers.

I'm living in a place where almost every second car has heater if not more.
