alternator regulator, 90 amp vs 60 amp

I need a new alternator regulator for my 90 amp alternator.  I was
wondering if I could use the  60 amp (or whatever the rating is)
regulator from alternators on 8v w/o AC.  Or do I need to get one from
a 90 amp alternator?
