try this:

run a wire with a 30 amp fuse from the positive of the battery to the fan
switch.
then run another wire from the fan switch to the fan
and lastly run a wire from the other terminal on the fan to the negative of
the battery.
put dielectric grease or vasoline on all the bare connections to protect
them from corrosion.

also seltezer water is great for netrualizing battery acid and corrosion.
