Take the easy route like me - buy one with a 2.0 already implanted!!

Actually all you need to do is locate a 2.0 - mine was found by the 
previous owner residing in a totalled '91 Passat at a local boneyard
and procured in complete form for $900.  Allegedly only about 30k on
the clock.  He then swapped the FI for the 'rocco's FI (since the stuff
is on the WRONG SIDE on the Passat) and the deed was done.

I've only driven other 1.8 16v car - Potterman's '87 GTI, so I don't
have much to compare to.. but I can say this: my car has AWESOME bottom
end torque and still a screaming top end - best of both worlds!
