Not neccesarily. Each car has, essentially, an aerodynamic limit. You
might be able to put a W18 in a Scirocco and have a top speed no higher
than the same car with a 1.5L. (Speaking figuratively here, I don't know
specific top speeds of either).

With a lot of road and a lot of testes, my 96 GTi VR6 got to an indicated
145 (which is probably 140 or so in reality). Now, that car puts out 172
HP (I'm allowing the chip and K&N for production variance). If memory
serves, the A3 Golf was the slipperiest (is that a word?) VW design at the
time of it's introduction. (Lowset cd. Looks can be deceiving here - what
looks slick isn't always what *is* slick). Anyway, my point is that my
opinion based on my (admittedly limited) personal experience is that a
Scirocco will probably not go 140Mph. If it would, it's with a bit more
than 175 HP under the hood.

Somebody please tell me I'm wrong, I'd enjoy seeing a Scirocco that's
capable of it!! :)
