16V or not 16V? (Was: Antenna mod)

Ok, first off thanks for the replies on the 16v antenna mod.  I'll
probably get
the kit for this RSN.

Here's my question.  Everyone that responded was mystified that a 16v
would
not already have the antenna mounted on the roof.  I myself don't know
too
much about the different versions of the car, but since the engine in my
car is
a 16v, I assumed the rest of it was too.  My VIN is WVWCA0537GK014781.
I know (from Bentley), that the G means my car is an '86, but can I also
tell
whether this model was originally a 16v or not?  I am now suspecting
that a
former owner (I've only had the car 6 months) dropped a 16v into an 8v
car.
Also suspicious is the lack of the "16v" insignia at the vehicle's rear.

Any insights?
