If you look closely at the belt tensioner, you will see a groove there
where the 2 pulley halves fit together. it's perfectly normal to see
those marks on the belt.

Actually, there is. The side of the belt to inspect closely is the side
that runs on the cogs. The only real way to inspect it is to remove and
since you have it off, you might as well replace it. (New timing belts
are what, $9-$15? Something like that.) That's my input on it...
