RE: VDO replacement gear (fwd)

I just replaced my old VDO speedo (only goes to 85mph) with one out of
a '79 scirocco (100mph) at which time I also adjusted the odometer to
match what was on my old speedo. On each of the speedo's the exact
same gear you are talking about was slightly cracked. This sounds
like a recall item to me. Anyway, besides that I have a question
concerning the reliability of what my new speedo reports. I truly
believe my speedo is reading about 15 to 20 mph over what I am
actually moving at. Is there any way to calibrate this or do I need
to get a new cable or both or what? Can anyone help?

Here is their response to my question down below. Lets see, 125
clamarooskies to fix the speedo when I know exactly what is wrong with
it
and I know the part can't cost more than 25 cents to make. What a
bunch
of BULLS**T!

Dear Mr. Bjorkheim,
While we cannot send repair parts to you, we can offer our repair
services. Typical speedometer repair, when possible, costs
approximately $125. Each repair is billed for direct time and
material
as required and an estimate can be provided after receipt of the
gauge.
In some cases, non-available parts or information make repair
impossible
and these units are returned at no cost to the customer. Please
contact
Connie at 540 678 2034.
