I had the same problem when I put the needle back on. One way to fix
it is if you remember what gear and RPM you have and that will determine
your speedo speed. For me, 4th gear at 2k RPM meant I was doing 40. I
was off by about 7 MPH when I initially put it on there. To fix meant to
simply take out the speedo, push the needle to 47MPH and hold the spring
there while I take off the needle and place it at 40MPH. But, in
actuallity I didnt get that far. I noticed that there was a mark on the
speedo just left of the bottom, at about 6:30-7:00 on the face. It was a
small white line. I took the needle off, placed it pointing at that white
mark and then I slowly lifted it over the little black stopper pin at
10MPH. Seems to work just fine for me now. I am not sure if that will
work for you seeing as how yours was originally 85MPH but it is worth a
shot. BTW, are you running a stock diameter on the wheels?
