RE: Resetting Engine Timing

OK, OK, I'm curious what you mean by easy. I know I don't have a lot
of experience in this case, but on both of the VW's I own, I have
never been able to get the timing correct by trying to line up the dot
(on the Tranny housing) and the arrow (on the flywheel). Now I know
on my Scirocco, the problem may be that I replaced the 190mm with a
210mm flywheel from an 83 or 84 (can't remember) GTI; but as far as my
85 GTI goes, I have no idea what the problem is. I know this is a
repair that anyone should be able to do, but to this day I am baffled
about how to do this correctly. There was at one time a line on
disconnecting the DIS box (I have an entire FAQ on this), but I could
never figure out how to connect the lines going in directly to the
lines coming out the box, they both were male connectors. If anyone
knows the missing step to this magical process I would greatly
appreciate it (so would my pride and wallet since I have to swalllow
my ego and pay hard earned cash to have a "pro" do it).
