[OT] where were you 9/11?

Worked till 10 and had fun afterwards the night before. Got home late,
very late, and crashed. About 6 or 7am, my mom woke me to tell me that
Mr Johnston (family friends) had passed away the night before and she
was going over to do whatever she could to help. I went back to sleep.
The phone rang a few hours later. "What?!?" (I can be cranky in the
morning when not fully rested.) Mom again. "Turn on the TV, we're
being bombed!"

Half asleep and not believing her, I turned it on. Sat and watched it
all day. Went to work at 3p I remember the moods if not the details.
Surreal. Disbelief. The local Jehovah's Witness coming by to drop off
her tracts: "How's your day?" she smiles.

"Pretty crappy considering..."

"Considering what?"

"Haven't you been paying attention to the news? Thousands* of people
died today in NYC."

"Well, that's what they get for not reading the bible."

Flabbergasted at this response, I told her to leave and not come back,
ever, when I was working. Only time I reacted that way to a customer
(although she never bought anything, just pushing her religion). I
never saw her in there again.

I just couldn't believe that response and the fact that people hide in
that shit every day.

*before the real numbers came in, we thought it was much higher.
