FM Reception Question

I guess this morning I'm full of questions, so heres another one.  I'm getting pretty poor reception with my car radio.  The car looks like it has the original bee stinger looking antenna and I've checked the positive connection on the antenna cable on the radio side as well as the cable going into the radio.  Is the reception just poor on these antennas or should I check the antenna end?
