Turbo; JH or PL?

Which is the perfect description of a stock cam.
Again, the usual speed parts are just not necessary with a turbo conversion. The possible exception is lower-compression, high-quality pistons....and low compression pistons are not "normally" thought of as being power-adders (in the NA sense).

I see this mind-set all the time; we are so used to thinking of what normally adds power to an engine..... then supercharging comes into the game and it's very difficult to get our arms around a completely different way of looking at power addition. The cam issue is a perfect example: a NA engine requires lots of lift and lots of duration/overlap to make more power, whereas the supercharged engine likes just the opposite characteristics in its cam.

 There are several good books out there on super-/turbo-charging; they are eye-openers.

  agreed....even a good cam with low overlap will be helpful;
