Dont shoot me! How much oil to add?

Keep in mind that all the oil doesn't drain out of an engine during an oil change. A fair amount lingers in the head and of course the drain plug isn't all the way at the bottom of the pan.
If you've ever taken an engine all the way apart it's amazing just how much oil keeps coming out of it as you turn it this way and that to disassemble various components.
So, putting in the prescribed amount may actually be overfilling it a half quart or so.

Well, something to think about.
