9A block from Audi 88 update

Dizzy? What Dizzy? I was looking for a Dizzy? Do I have to change a Dizzy with that head swap? I was pretty Dizzy last night when I was trying to figure out the block codes. I'm actually looking for a Tranny, maybe that's what you heard. I need either a AGS, ACH, or AOP. I had four, am down to three soon to be two 2Y's and a FN. But Ron said he'd hook me up as soon as I source the .75 fifth which should be almost on it's way.... as soon as they guy pulls it from the ACN... now I really am dizzy.

That is correct the Audi motor was a 3A. It just so happens he has a 3A and a 9A he's selling. I may pick them both up on a group deal! I'll let you guys know.
Rave, I'll check on the dizzy. Which one were you looking for?

  Thanks
  David

Actually the 9A was used for early FWD Audi 80's and 90's. I've found parts for my GLI from them. I beleive stock compression is 10:1 for mine but I'm not sure if the heads are the same. The PL head (1.8 16V) on a 9A block should make between 12.1:1 to 13:1 depending on the head gasket. I look forward to doing this in the near future as I already have all the parts.

David, I did not know that Audi made a 9A, could it be a 3A?
If so, here are some stats.

      3A 2.0L CIS-E/Motronic 115 HP 10.0:1CR 82.5 86.4
      1984 Audi 80
A sure fire way to check the code is to look at the number stamped on
the face of the block, near the head, above the distributor.

If it is a 3a I believe there is a lot of potential and the price seems
      right.
      Rick.

I'm going to look at a 9A block and pistons from a 1988 Audi 5 speed.
Is there anything I should check in perticular?

I'm looking for a 2.0 project possibly a turbo project. Does anyone
know the compression? Is it the same as for VW 9A's? Also if I
remember right there are some pins??? that would have to be moved if I
put a 16v head on it?

AND is $50-$80 a good deal for a good 9A block?

      Thanks
      David
