I'm gonna do my first clutch this weekend...

Tim, I'm inthe process of a clutch/transmission job as I type this.I don't
know what a cross brace is it may be what I am using.I have a 2x4 that fits
between the inner fenders .It has a hole drilled in it in line with the Eye
on the cylinderhead.I use a piece of all thread with a hook in it to go thru
the eye on the head.By using a long piece of all thread you can raise or
lower the rear of the engine as needed which leaves the floor jack free for
the transmission.I also use a couple of bungee straps to hold the
transmission on the jack. All of this allows the job to be done by one person
with a minimum of lifting. It's not a bad job, just take your time.
good luck
ole blue
