The hole is indeed tapped.

And yes, there is a hole on the floor directly in front of the rear wheel
housing that is also tapped:

Very cool.  Thanks for following through on this.  This is great news for
when my son grows out of his current car seat, since I've got to imagine the
same exists on my Mk2.
