Wheel bearings

I have a stupid question...............how would I know if my wheel bearings were going bad!! Ever since I changed my snowflakes(14") back to the original nine spoke(13" taratula's) I've been hearing a rubbing noise (like brake wear indicator) and the front suspension is groaning.
Does this make any sense?
