Strange noise

Wouldn't a bad bushing cause this too?

I had something similar happen eons ago on the 84 Scirocco, most
recently I had it with a 96 Jetta. On the Jetta, it would also
invariably happen if I hit the brakes at a stop sign, and again when I
accelerate from the stop sign.

Replaced all 4 busings, had an alignment made, for peace of mind.
