On the subject of brakes, I'm swapping the tiny solid fronts on my 79 for
vented 9.4 inch from a GTi. I was wondering if there is a difference between
the bearing housings. And is there a difference between the 9.4 housings and
the 10.1's? Thanks for all the help.  Jeff P.S. I'll be upgrading to bigger
drums, not installing discs. :)

The front wheel bearing housings are the same from '79 to '84. The early
ones, before '79, came with smaller ball-joints, and after '84 they accept
100mm axles.
