Help - Clutch release arm not returning - Now the Trans is out

We have checked and rechecked the arm. I had my son push as hard as he could
using the release plate against the pushrod and it works flawlwssly. I have
checked all the teeth of the preesure plate and none are broken or bent.
They all seem to have good pressure. No apperent markings on the flywheel or
the clutch. By the way this is a CenterForce Dual friction clutch and
pressure plate but that should matter. I have one in my other scirocco. This
is the wierdest thing I expected to find something seriously wrong but it
all looks good. Should I just put it back together and see what happens? I
can take other pictures if any one wants to see something.
