Will these wheels fit w/o rubbing?

Well, there's two things:

First, with regards to clearance from the INSIDE...struts, springs, etc, it is usually backspacing that kills things. A 7.5" wheel with ET 27 is about 4.75" backspacing. 5" is usually the absolute upper limit before the wheel/tire starts hitting the strut or something else, so it should be OK. In fact, it is nearly identical to your 7" wheel with 33mm offset. And with too much backspacing, you can use a spacer to reduce if necessary...much better than not enough backspacing!

With regards to clearance on the fender lip, it is usually the TIRE that causes problems. The treadwidth of a 195 tire is 195 no matter what wheel it is on. And the section width of a 195 tire on a 7.5" wheel is probably only a tad wider than section width of the same tire on a 7" wheel, so the likelihood of problems is fairly low.

Unless someone else actually runs 15x7.5" (a relatively wide/rare size) and can tell us for sure, I'm gonna guess with at least 80% certainty that you'll be OK. In reality, you will end up with a wheel/tire profile that is not very far at all from the OEM 15" VW wheels from Corrados, A2s, etc, that many people run, including myself (before I got crazy with other suspension/fender mods). You're really not even all that far off the stock setup for 14"...

Subject: Will these wheels fit w/o rubbing?

Hi folks - I've been seething over buying a set of old-skewl OZ turbos,
but the seller who had a set of 15x7 ET 33 is waffling. Another guy pops up w/ a
set of 15x7.5 w/ Et27 (not yet confirmed though) for the same price roughly.

Will the 15x7.5's fit a mk1 w/ when running 195/50/15's without rolling
the fenders? I will not be running coilovers; just a set of neuspeed
progressives w/ bilstein sports. So the drop is only 1.25" or so in front. Rear
height is somewhat adjustable.

I really need to know because, as some of you know, these are about as
expensive as used wheels get!

Thanks!

JT
