Solvents-R-Us, and other nonsense

Well, if Anson can post stuff when he's drunk, then I can admit to being
buzzed...tonight's mix was: gas, brake cleaner, beer, and a bit of exhaust
thrown in for good measure. Don't worry, there was "adequate ventilation",
I think. But I'm not driving anything anywhere for a while.

BUT!!! of the fifteen fuel junctions I recently disturbed, none appear to
be leaking. This is a good thing. I tried the "mirror and wet paper"
method, but I'll leave the mirror for the cocaine users. (I looked through
my stained glass stuff for something flat, so mirror got the nod) Anyway,
new washers are the way to go, though the small ones appear to be aluminum
now.

But, in true Cathy style, it went less than smoothly. The washers were on
in short order, but the weak battery wouldn't crank long enough to kick
old Klausie over. (he's pretty advanced and squeezing things pretty well)
So I decide to steal the headache's battery, no problem, except the
flipping hood wouldn't pop. Fine, get the hook going on some hanger wire,
up through the grille, and then got sidetracked with rerouting the
headache's hood cable. Eventually I got Klaus going, but typical, one tech
procedure spawns about five more.

So this begs the question, what's made you laugh most while working on
these cars? For me, it was that dribble of coolant that tracked all the
way across the front crossmember to drop into my eyesocket, and the blind
stagger to the hose that followed it, I was trying to find the hose and
not open my eye, and laughing the whole while. That car has it in for me,
and that was proof. I'd been SO careful not to put my head under the
coolant stream, but gravity had other ideas.

Let's hear your stories, I guess I should include the time I dropped my DD
(the heavybug) onto its oil pan and rotors off the blocks, 6" from the
concrete foundation wall of the garage. Have at it, I'm sure you've done
stupid stuff too.
