soldering 4 ga copper wire?

On the small guage wire you can but terminal ends with solder already in place insert wire and heat.

On the large copper cable lugs soldering is easier than one would think.

Put the flat end in a vice (notice the nice sealed cup area), swab the the inside with a little acid flux. Now take the propane torch and heat the the connection (with a coil of solder inside) when the solder becomes liquid, take your pre-trimmed 8 to 0 gauge cable and insert allow the cool. Now to make it look good and reduce the risk of the elements getting it put heat shrink tube over and shrink. Never even get close to melting the wire cover.

The hardest part in determining the amount of solder to use, but hey if you dont feel you have enough reheat and remove and try again.

So I'm redoing my grounds.. and this time I'm determined to solder instead
of crimp. Particularly after the no-starting fiasco I went through in
weeks past.

Any tips on how to go about this? Obviously my little 25w iron isn't going
to cut it. I'm afraid a propane torch will just burn off the insulation..

Also I'm looking for a good ground point. My lower starter bolt has proven
to be a crappy one at best. I'd like to nab one of those A2
engine-to-tranny bolts that has the small stud protruding from the
bolt head designed specifically for this purpose, but the junkyards
around here are worth their weight in honduhs so I haven't had luck
finding one.
