goodbye Cincy 2k4...

My journey ended uneventfully this morning shortly after 11:00 when I
reached home after spending the night at Cathy and Dennis' place. The
trek home was great, as usual, and I'll even forgive Carrots for the
broken hood release cable and the passenger's side lowbeam relay problem.
Thanks to everyone in the caravan (and those behind me in the tour to the
dairy barn) for putting up with the stink and the soot. Next year it'll
be cleaner, I promise... :)

Thanks to everyone who made this a restful and relaxing vaction (and I
needed one!) - Daun and his folks for yet again being such fantastic and
gracious hosts. Special thanks to Daun Sr. for the tour in the Beech -
what a marvelous piece of machinery that is. Thanks to Brad and his "Left
foot of Doom" for giving me something to keep myself occupied with on
Saturday - yes, I really do enjoy wrenching other people's cars that much.
(Just teasing about the left foot thing Brad.. :) ) Oh yeah, and thanks
for the "award" Daun.... :)

Thanks to Cathy and Dennis for the support, the bed, and for letting me
take Klaus and the Headache for a spin.

Thanks to Eric and Katy for showing up in the Mk3 Scirocco TDI (a sweet
car, you know I'm just digging you, Eric... ! :) so that I'm not the ONLY
oil burning type 53 in attendance.

It was fantastic meeting old friends yet again, meeting some new ones, and
of course trying desparately to match up names to faces and cars of
listers you've "virtually" known for years.

A special note goes out to Anson and his mechanical marvel. Although I'm
horribly disapointed that there won't be a "17 minute twin engine Scirocco
build" video, nonetheless we can't help but recognize this fantastic
achievement. Sure, it's a little rough around the edges, and can stand a
few improvements (FIREWALL!) but it runs, and looks like its a hell of a
blast.

Along the same vein thanks to Brian "Big Mac" and Brett for dragging the
GRM car along for everyone to eyeball - there's another rolling work of
art - performance art, I think its called... :)

Anyways, I could go on ad nauseum, but I have to go clean the soot off the
taillights so I don't get rear-ended on the way to work tomorrow morning.

The countdown has begun.

Drew
