Buzzing noise



After reading of the symptoms again, I'd think he's describing run-on.

    The spitting and sputtering is a sure-fire (no pun intended) indication that 
  it is not running properly, more than likely it is running rich...  I assume 
  that your mechanic has attempted to fix this already?  It is at least part of 
  the reason why it runs rough (sure sounds like it does, esp. if stuttering 
  upon turning the car off)...  I would confirm that the mixture is correct, 
  then I would fill up on 93 octane if available in your area.  Before filling 
  up, I would put in the large bottle of Chevron Techron.  Then, I would get on 
  the highway and nail that sucker to the floor...  It sounds as if it is badly 
  coked up and/or the mixture is off...  Once you finish that tank, you should 
  notice a difference in idle and/or performance...
