Cincy sugesstions

You know if we actually HAD a show at Cincy (not that UI a suggesting we
should) for once in our life we would have the most competent judges in this
show, but then I would expect a highest degree of judging (white glove
treatment on all components of the car, and depending on the class, negative
points for even the smallest of details that is off. (like the real vw-bug
classes are all about)..

Think you want this to happen... I would love it because I can handle
getting a -10 on a possible +10 in a judging contest because I don't care.

But can you ?

I agree. If you want your car to be judged go to a show. Cincy is know for
the comradely and the technical learning and of course the fun.
Let's do things that you can't do at other shows. If you are going to do
anything why not compile the information and take pictures of all the cars
and publish that on the scirocco.org web site. That way everyone would get
to show off their car and any thing special they may have added. We could
even have small interviews of each owner. Others will get the pleasure of
seeing each others accomplishments and learning from what others have done.
I'd be willing to help in compiling information.
The only thing is I don't have a digital camera to take pictures. Every
Scirocco has a story and every owner is proud of their car lets make it fun.

I think stay away from competitiveness, but if there must be awards, make
then for things not already covered at other shows, like "Most heroic story
from the trip" or "youngest owner" or "longest voyage to get here".. I do
think "most improved" would be good though, that could be a really awful car
that now actually runs and still looks rough, or a car that started nice and
now is really nice, or something that has been made more tasteful from a

previous life as pseudo-rice, you know? (it would have to have been done in
the last year) Then the candidates would need to write out a little story
for the windshield so they didn't get stuck beside their own car.
But make it categories that we can't all predict the outcome of before hand,
and maybe some comical ones (carefully chosen so as not to hurt feelings),
like "most red" . I think the whole idea is to bring what you have, and some
people have several and may not want to bring their best one. The ones that
are truly top drawer get drooled on anyways. It's the others that need
encouragement to come.
