FWIW, I had an oil filter blow up on a Mitsubishi van I borrowed from my sister. I drove about 2
miles before it pumped all the oil out and stalled. Immediately afterwards, it wouldn't turn over,
probably too hot, but after a tow to the garage, the mechanic refilled the oil and it fired right
up. Oil pressure was good, and no apparent damage. SO, you may have gotten lucky... (long term
on that van is not known, they traded it in the next day).
