intermediate shaft

If the machine shop used a chemical hot tank to clean the block, then the 
intermediate shaft bearings may well have disolved - requiring new ones to 
be installed.

Is the bearing seperate since it seem that the shaft moves around quite a bit near the distributor side....Ahhhhh possible another delay....
