Newbie



If you are looking to move the car, consider joining AAA, they will tow something like 3 miles or 100miles if you have a premium membership.  Buy the car, stand next to it and call them.  Just a thought.  Keep in mind that an entire new fuel system can be had for about $200 (just a guess) to $500.   Also, Caddys (pickups) are cool.  There are a few on the list experienced with old VW diesels.

Not much help for you, but mainly just writing to say "welcome!"  Get the Bentley 16v manual and do some diagnosis and we'll be able to help you more as you narrow it down.
