cups v. coilovers?

Refer to "RE" to Scott's email. As far as what VW has done, it is
irrelevant compared to the aftermarket. I would think that Aftermarket
springs are better and heavier than stock springs so why the heck couldn't
8v springs fit a 16v especially one most of ours that are lighter because we
are all performance heads. Even if you had a stock 16v I would think that
the 8v aftermarket springs would be better than the stock 16v springs. If
there is a difference in height, then adjust the rears a little (most
aftermarket suspension has adjustable spring perches) to make it even.

I don't know, I guess it's the cheapness in myself but I just can't see
paying more for something that is probably the same or if it is better it
probably isn't enough better to offset paying so much more. Take the pass.
side M/M for example. Would you like to pay the outrageous 16v price for it
or the $10 for the exact same part number just listed under "diesel"? This
is how companies make their money and I just don't like giving my hard
earned money up just to put it in their pockets. They got enough and I
don't. If that isn't enough of an example for you then try this. Just
yester day I spent $45 on a cooling fan temp sensor for a 86 Mercedes 190E
2.3. This is like the most basic model Mercedes you can get and a temp
sensor cost $45!! VWs price is a LOT less and does the exact same thing.
Is Mercedes sensor better? Maybe but the reason why it's so expensive is
because it has the pizza symbol on it not because it is better quality or
whatever. Probably all made by Bosch anyway!
