Progressive rear springs??? From VW???

Yup, finally got around to pulling the rear springs on my MkI to sell to a very patient lister. 
Got them off and began to check them out...wow...REAL progressive springs, not the quick-and-dirty
way that the aftermarket guys use by varying the pitch, but these use wire that decreases in
diameter along its length.  Way cool.  And they have a VAG stamp, but no PN that I could see just
yet.

Question is...what are they from???  Another model?  Stock (never seen stock springs like this
before)?  Motorsport??

Somebody tell me...inquiring minds want to know!
