What do used cylinders look like? was: Runners on 2.0 vs. 1.8,16v



on an 8v 1.8L the piston does not rise all the way to the top, so there
should be on a engine with 100K miles on it a carbon/brownish deposit
(sometimes its simply a decoloration, sometimes there is a deposit there
(needs to be delt with when rebuilding engine) on the 2L 3a block the piston
rises almost to the top edge of the chamber, so the deposit ring is very
thin.
