[ot] [fs/ft] '87.5 audi coupe gt (non-quattro)

i've finally decided that i should probably get rid of my audi gt. it
hasn't been a bad car in the time i've owned it, but i certainly isn't a
scirocco. colour is alpine white with colour matching wheels; interior
is grey cloth. engine is a 2.3l (strong) and it does have the digital
dash. will most likely include the roof mounted thule bike rack (don't
really want to mess with selling it seperately). appears as if the
previous owner put on an aftermarket exhaust (not too loud, but nice). i
personally put a new clutch master and slave cylinder in it and the p.o.
said that the clutch was done not long ago. i also bought a new pair of
kuhmo ecstas for it (less than 1,000 miles on them) and the other two
seem to be 90% there. i also found a bumper and had it recently painted
(story to the old bumper). the other good bits are that the sunroof
works perfectly and it does have heated seats (though the drivers seat
will need a relay or wires checked). it does have a/c, p/s, & p/w.
recent oil change with vw filter and the various little odds and ends
that go along with it (trim pieces, etc.). the car does have a good,
clean title. also included a bentley manual and new owners manual, etc.
now the bad: it does have a lifter tap (one or two) on start up. i
haven't had it running long enough lately to see if one goes away (does
quiet down considerably when warm). i managed to touch up most of the
surface rust, though there are still some spots remaining. the p.o.
siliconed what appears to be a hole at the left lower corner of the
winshield so, unfortunately, i don't know what's going on there. the
front speakers don't work but the radio isn't the correct one for the
car - it's an audi radio from a later model with amplified speakers -
channeled the preamped wires to the rear speakers which work fine. there
is a dent in the roof where it looks like the p.o dropped his bike at
one point, no break in the paint, though. and there is an occasional
grounding problem (according to an audi tech at work) with the speedo
and temp portions of the cluster (the speedo/odo keeps track, but
doesn't always display and the temp gauge shows hot when making a long
continuous turn). the ashtray lid is also broken and, iirc, there are a
couple marks from cigarettes, though nothing through. the e-brake
doesn't work but it does come with new rear pads and rotors. it'll also
require a new antenna (set for a power setup - supplier info is
available). rear hatch shocks would be required if you don't want to
decapitate yourself.
i'm asking $800 for it like it is. i don't really have the time to
work on it working 10 hour days and i don't want to see it rot away. for
that price i'll include a new pair of lifters, a valve cover gasket, and
a new ashtray. depending, i might also include a new timing belt. i'm
also considering a partial/complete trade for a (get this) -=AUTOMATIC=-
scirocco. specifications for this are that it 1) much be '84.5 or newer
(engine layout) and 2) in good condition. of course, i'd be concerned
about the condition of the auto trans, but other than that, most
anything goes. please, nothing that's hacked together. i have a few
other requests, though they are negotiable. i'd request it to be
driveable so that we might meet somewhere and exchange vehicles. and
since i know you might be wondering, the reason i'm looking for an
automatic is because i'm contemplating knee surgery and i know they'll
request that i don't use a clutch.
i have a digital camera so i can snap pictures of the audi for you.
let me know what kind of connection you have and i can send them via
e-mail or might create a small web page for them. feel free to contact
me with any questions you may have. *** and, please, if you are
interested, contact me OFF the list ***. i feel bad about listing this
here, but i know that other scirocco owners may be interested in this
cousin of our cars. thanx for the bandwidth.
